In the 2023–24 Budget, the Australian Government announced a further expansion of the program to include an additional 5 tax clinics from 1 January 2025. The expansion was facilitated via an open competitive grant process, with eligibility for funding expanded to include TAFE institutions. The 5 new tax clinics joining the program from 2025 are:

Chisholm TAFE

Located in Dandenong, Victoria, the Chisholm tax clinic supports the diverse communities of Dandenong and Frankston – areas with high numbers of non-English speakers, new arrivals, and people experiencing social or financial disadvantage. Our mission is to deliver free, practical, and accessible tax support to those who need it most.

We aim to improve financial literacy and access in ways that are inclusive, empowering, and culturally respectful. Through this work, Chisholm will strengthen its broader community commitment by helping individuals gain confidence, resilience, and greater control over their financial futures.

University of Notre Dame

Located in Kimberley Region, Western Australia, the University of Notre Dame tax clinic will provide support to vulnerable members of the Kimberley community. The clinic will also provide the School of Law and Business's students with opportunities to develop their professional skills.

Our aim for the Notre Dame Tax Clinic is to co-create services that include education, advocacy and tax return preparation and deliver these in partnership with community organisations from the Kimberley region.

University of Sunshine Coast

Located in Moreton Bay, Queensland, the university’s Moreton Bay campus was identified as an ideal location for the Sunshine Coast Tax Clinic due to the diverse socio-economic profile of surrounding communities and the need for free tax related services for vulnerable individuals.

We offer tax support to unrepresented taxpayers who cannot access tax advice or assistance due to their economic, social, or personal situations.

Our tax clinic also provides practical experience for students undertaking tertiary Work Integrated Learning courses under the supervision of a qualified tax agent.

TAFE NSW

Located in Ultimo, New South Wales, the TAFE NSW Tax Clinic at Ultimo TAFE offers free tax help to individuals and small businesses, especially those in financial hardship. Services include tax returns, GST, ABNs and debt support.

TAFE students, supervised by professionals, gain real-world experience while helping the community. As part of the program, our tax clinic works with the ATO to improve access to tax and literacy.

University of Wollongong

Located in Wollongong, New South Wales, the University of Wollongong Tax Clinic offers a free service that helps individuals from the Illawarra and South Coast who are experiencing hardship and who do not have access to professional tax advice.

Our Business School students provide friendly and professional guidance with tax returns, debt management, understanding tax obligations and more under supervision of qualified tax professionals.

We aim to support the community while giving students valuable, real-world experience in tax practice.
