About us

The University of Canberra Tax Clinic provides free, confidential and independent tax advice and services to the Canberra region and surrounding community.

The tax clinic advice and services are provided by University of Canberra students from the Business, Government and Law Faculty under the supervision of experienced tax professionals registered with the Tax Practitioners Board.

Assistance is available to those who are unable to access tax advice and assistance in managing their tax affairs due to economic, social or personal factors and are not represented by a tax professional.

Appointments are conducted via online web conferencing. Face-to-face and phone appointments are subject to availability.

  • Tax file number (TFN) - registrations, lost or stolen TFN
  • Tax advice – income and deductions, GST, pay as you go (PAYG) instalments, residency, capital gains tax (CGT), small business tax obligations
  • Lodge my tax return
  • Registrations for my business – ABN and GST registration, cancellations
  • Lodge business activity statements (BAS)
  • I have a tax debt – payment plans, penalty remission requests, hardship requests
  • Dispute an ATO decision – lodge an objection
